Or, Merlin is hit with a curse that takes away his control over his magic, and the resulting revelations force Merlin and Arthur to face their past mistakes and to decide what exactly they want their future to look like.

Some interpretations lean towards Arthur taking up an antagonistic role with his distrust of magic, other interpretations paint him as a protagonist easily led astray.
