Day #9: In your own space, celebrate a personal win from the past year: it can be a list of fanworks you're especially proud of, time you spent in the community, a quality or skill you cultivated in yourself, something you generally feel went well.

I finished my Podfic Bingo 2021 to 2022 card with two bingos.

I took part in Voiceteam 2022. (I wouldn't go so far as to say it's The Big Podfic Event for everyone, but for me, this event has been go time.)

I completed the After Camlann Big Bang of 2022.

I started 2022 coming off The Great Household Sickness of 2021, and I couldn't record more than 500 words in one recording session. Eventually, it slowly went up to about 1K, but this was still not really pushing the 10 or 15 minute mark in terms of recording. Honestly, this was a drastic change from what I used to be able to plan on: Somewhere between 7,200 and 9,000 words in about one hour's worth of recording per day, and maybe alternating every other day with another hour in a separate recording session. I was almost guaranteed to finish recording anything 8K or 9K and under in one day.

When I signed up for the ACBB last January, I was really counting on things improving by the time I had a fic in June. It took a lot of pre-planning and breaking chapters down to the wordcount for individual scenes, but I finished recording within seven weeks. It was a slog. I hit a point where I didn't want to have to record every single, consecutive day any more. I felt frustrated and weirdly guilty that it was taking so long, in part, because I had done the recording for a fic was even longer pre-The Great Household Sickness in two weeks. (My old estimate probably would allot seven or eight days for this particular fic. Seven weeks felt like an eternity.)

I don't really regret doing ACBB, but I did learn that I don't do well with big bang events. I had such a short amount of time between matching and the deadline, and I was very lucky that my paired author had a completely finished fic to me within a few days of being matched. An author that was still writing into July or early August? Oof. (Yeah, I know excerpts are allowed for ACBB, but like, just the thought of an author trying to hand over the final draft of something that close to the deadline.)

I still kinda-sorta burnt out on touching the fandom for a bit after finishing, so I didn't dip my toes back into BBC Merlin until some events in December. I cannot explain why I got the urge to try to write [when I've never touched writing for Merlin as a fanfic writer before], but I made an attempt for Camelot Countdown and Panfandom Hanukkah Bingo 2022.

This is not an exhaustive list of what I did in 2022. (My end of the year stats list the fandom with the most podfics as HP, and I did several events for that to happen.) Still, like last year, I hit a point in the autumn and early winter where things tapered off, and the Seasonal Mental Illness had seasonal symptoms. Imagine that. So, yeah, this list is just a reminder that I did things.

Bonus: I made a Pillowfort account. I didn't cross-post everything in my Dreamwidth or tumblr archives, but I made a point of hitting event submissions, resources, and some podfic notes. Things are a bit quiet over there, but that did take up a fair bit of my December.
